Priority One

The first step in setting up priorities and learning how you would like to spend your 1440 minutes every day, is to know how you are spending them now. In order to give myself a very good picture of how I spend my days I used a 3 day chart. I used two days where I work my full time job and one day where I did not have to work. I recorded everything that took over five minutes. I lumped some things together, personal care, outdoor chores, laundry, etc. It quickly showed evidence that I had forgotten the value of a minute. I did this for two weeks and noticed I was more mindful of the my time the second week.

With that under my belt, this week I am making some different choices. I am not jumping in full force, it is more like testing the waters to find a balance that works with my family, my job, my passions and yes, those things I hate to do but must be done. It will be a journey and perhaps if I document it here, someone might benefit from my missteps and my successes, or someday my grandchildren may find it valuable.  Or it may be that I look back at it to see if I really learned and followed through with priorities.
