I have worked in the Home Care industry for years and have liked just about everyone I have fortunate to meet.
I met a woman in the Wealthy apartments in Epsom and loved the garden view. In home care we do either shopping, very basic house work or personal care. I showered this person.
I have always felt a bit of guilt with disabled people because I am not one of these people who do miracles like some big names who have healing meetings. Or like the early disciples who had no trouble praying for sick people and having immediate results, healed instantly
A long time ago I went to a miracle meeting and was rather shocked at the lack of compassion that man had for an elderly sick woman but apparently people went to his meetings and were instantly healed. Who am I to disagree? I was told that I did not have enough faith.
Shouldn’t faith be simple and you either pray and get healed or not? Perhaps it takes time? I have felt guilty for a while …Maybe if I was younger and started over I could study and become a Doctor of medicine instead?
“Well,” I said to her,” I am sorry about your disability but I am not God and I am not a Doctor. I really wish I could heal you. I can only do little things to help”.
She just smiled and said, “It’s the little things that count!”
She made my day and her name was Pamela too.
Thanks so much Tasartcraft, you are right………
big things are generally composed of little things…
So true Alex, a huge ocean is full of drops of water……..All counts
takes a lot of things to make an ocean, but trash isn’t any of those things…
That is sadly true, our oceans should be free of trash

That link is fantastic Alex, great invention
I think that older and sick people need compassion and some kind of warm word for encouragement
So true you are right they do
Thanks so much Lado…..
With great pleasure, my dear friend
Yes, the elderly also have my love and respect.
A beautiful rose. And I have a soft spot for the elderly and disabled.
Little things are so important.
Thanks so much, Carol……it is also how I feel..
I would say that sometimes, for old people, a beautiful word is enough, a smile. They are usually not demanding, they want little attention.
Thanks Vidocka, but strangely enough it is not only the elderly that home carers are sent to but anyone who is sick
I don’t think you need to be God or a miracle worker, compassion is enough.
Thanks so much Dawn, that’s great to hear
I have worked in many houses to help older people. And I’m grateful to them for their love and respect.
Thanks Elenka, I have thought that you have also worked for the elderly. The sick aren’t only the elderly but a large no are elderly
There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up
That is great Witty Feeds so true. The sick have also blessed me.
