A family of three people are lucky to be alive in the town of Pitkin Louisiana on Friday night when a huge fire erupted in their home on Friday night on Louisiana State Highway 10 in Vernon Parish..
Curtis Nolen and Christie Nolen were driving on Louisiana State Highway 10 when they saw a home that was on fire around 3 o’ clock in the morning.
Curtis got out of his auto to attempt to put out the fire while Christie used her cell phone to contact the fire department in the area to report a fire was engulfing a house just outside of Pitkin Louisiana.
When Curtis was unable to put out the fire, he did an act of bravery by pounding on the door of the house that was burning to get the attention of the three persons who were inside the burning home by yelling outside the front door that was their house was on fire.
The three persons who were inside the burning home were able to get out of the house that was on fire safely although they were groggy from getting up at 3 o’ clock in the morning since they were asleep at the time of the fire
Curtis risked his life to enter the house through thick smoke to see if anyone else was inside the home just to make sure that there was no one else was inside the burning home.
Deputies from Vernon Parish and firemen of the same parish arrived at the scene of the burning building just as Curtis was able to leave the home unharmed..
Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft gave high marks to the Curtis and Christine Curtis for doing their part to save the lives of strangers who would been deceased by smoke inhalation or by the fire if the Curtis and Christine did not take immediate action to save lives from a burning home by contacting the authorities…
What the Curtis couple did was an act of heroism that we can say that they played the role of guardian angels of that family in Vernon Parish since it takes a lot of courage to run into a burning building to save a life inside a burning home with the knowledge that your chances of coming out alive is no guarantee of success.
