Love ItLove It

Bliss

One of the things that I love about being a photographer is being able to step back into a moment in time and feel what was going on with me when the shutter clicked.

I positively love “night” photography.  It was the first time I really felt like a Photographer. I know that you can grab your phone and come up with a reasonable facsimile. I had to get a tripod set up, find the scene, set a shutter speed and pick an f stop. I had to use a remote trigger so I didn’t shake the camera at all during the click of the shutter.

I remember the weather and how I felt when I was shooting this a couple of years ago. I remember moving down the riverfront until I found just what I wanted to show where Kentucky becomes Ohio and the Roebling Bridge spans the two. I was looking for the beginnings of blue hour and I found it. I love that bridge and have shot it from almost every angle imaginable; some shots I like and some were immediately deleted – and that is nobody’s fault but mine.

Count how many times I used “I” in the above quick description. What I do with my camera belongs to me from the first to the last. Mistakes – all mine. A keeper – again, it only belongs to me. What you finally get to see after this process of pleasing myself is what I choose to share and then I hope the interaction begins and you jump in to say “good job” “why did you do it this way” or “that is one lousy shot”.  Hopefully not the latter – but please understand when I say that your opinion is appreciated but doesn’t really matter. I found my own bliss.
