5 Toys That Children Need In Their Childhood

When Birthdays and Christmas rolls around it can be hard to know what to get some children, after all, there are so many toys to choose from, where do you start? I have a son who is four years old, I have made some mistakes when it comes to buying toys. Some should remain on the shelf, however, I have also bought some major hits that will last him years, and won’t be just a five-minute wonder.

Here is my list of the top five toys for children, all the toys on the list are suitable for most age ranges and is gender neutral.

1. Wooden train set – My child was gifted his first set at two years old, and he still plays with it nearly every day two years later. I have also noticed it’s a huge hit with the children at my church. I am a huge fan of wooden toys, especially this one.

2. Duplo/Lego – You are never too young, or too old for lego! The dulpo version is aimed at children 4 and under, the ‘normal’ size lego even appeals to adults! It is a great way for children to get creative and let their imaginations run wild. This is another toy that is played nearly seven days a week in my house.oy

3. Play-Doh – This is a classic and allows children to be creative, in the kitchen that is! No one wants play-doh stuck in their carpet. It isn’t the kind of toy that you can only do one thing with and there are many different sets. It’s also good value for money.

4. Wooden Blocks – Where would a childhood be without another wooden toy on the list? Wooden blocks allowed for endless fun, and once you have finished building, there is more fun when you knock it all down!

5. Jigsaw puzzles – These are so good for a child’s development and come in many different age ranges, so children can experience puzzles in their first year of life. They help with recognition and concentration.

So there you have it, my personal choice of top five toys. Do you agree with the list? What would you change?
