In a previous article, I wrote about how a refrigerator works and mentioned that the condenser and coils should be cleaned periodically. Doing this prolongs the life of the refrigerator, uses less energy, and keeps the food safer to eat for a longer period of time. People who have never done it are often amazed at how dirty the condenser and coils can become, even in an immaculate house.

What I didn’t cover was how to do it. It honestly isn’t difficult and it isn’t especially time-consuming, but if you don’t know how to do it, the difficulty increases. The first time I did this, I was shocked by how dirty everything was. I started noticing a difference within an hour of cleaning it, though.
