I have cut this out of the garden today, one broccoli that I planted in a pot.
This size is good for me since I have not grown this large size before.
It did get some plant food which helped it a lot
Mum always told me that is essential in your diet to eat your green vegetables, needed for your health.

That is not surprising at all as most chinese under cook their broccoli. In the place where I once worked, broccoli was blanched in boiling water for 8 mins then drained wrapped in tin foil and baked in real butter until it was tender. It melted in your mouth.
Very impressive, Pamela. I have never planted broccoli, maybe I will try if I can get the seeds. Uh… but I don’t know whether the average temperature in my area is appropriate because broccoli is usually grown in a fairly high area in my country.

It can also be too warm as well, yes it grows in auckland best after summer.

Well growing plants can be like a lottery ticket. It needs to be warm enough but too much heat attracts insects and caterpillars are not the nicest to eat

You need a big pot good container mix, plant food.
Use garden gloves
Don’t ever breathe in the fumes of potting mix it can put you in hospital
Water it regularly
Get advice from the local garden centre
I like it lightly steamed with carrots. Then add soy and garlic. It is very poisoned as a vegetable.
