7 Ways to Make Your Home More Green

2020 was the year of making big life changes. You may have started working from home, you got your workout routine and healthy eating habits squared away, and now you are trying to figure out what changes you want to make in 2021. Well, we recommend trying to make your home more green! With just a few small changes, you will be well on your way to lowering your carbon footprint! Here are a few ideas to get you started!

1.     Cut out single-use kitchen plastics

Using your actual dishes instead of paper plates is an easy fix to make your home greener. So easy, that you might already do it. But if you are still using plastic snack or sandwich bags, that is one that will be a big, yet necessary, change. Making the transition does not have to be hard. Reusable snack bags are dishwasher, microwave, oven, fridge, and freezer safe. Meaning there are really no excuses to not use them! Plus, the amount of money you will save throughout the life of these bags will make you very happy!

2.     Make upgrades

If you are wanting to make some major changes to your home, pace financing can help you make all the sustainability and green upgrades you want to make, even if you are on a budget. Lenders are able to work with you to get you the money needed to make these crucial upgrades. Adding solar, new windows and doors, or even a new roof are all things that you can get financing for!

3.     Change up your beauty routines

By picking beauty products from companies that are focused on using clean and sustainable resources for their products, you can make a big impact when it comes to lessening your carbon footprint. Plus, you will feel good about the products you use on your body because they are the best of the best, and you aren’t absorbing any harsh chemicals or toxins!

4.     Pick greener shower items

Cutting down on plastics in the shower will change your hair and body for the better. Bar soap instead of body washes and shampoo and conditioner bars will help you to save the planet one shower at a time. It will help you cut down on your single use plastic consumption and will ensure that you are using clean products on your body!

5.     Add more plants

Creating a plant corner in your home will help you to keep your air cleaner and fresher. Plus, it helps you to provide the earth with more oxygen creating beings. It will add life to your home, and before you know it, you will be one of those plant parents. Make sure you are using ceramic or earth-friendly pots, and try not to use plastic ones!

6.     Learn proper recycling techniques

If you have been throwing away items that can be recycled because you aren’t sure what can and can’t be thrown in the recycling bin, the time is now to educate yourself! It is also vital to look at what can be recycled in your city or town. If you have to make a special trip to recycle certain items, try and make it so you only have to do that once or twice. Save things to be recycled, that way you’re not polluting by driving and making a ton of trips.

7.     Make sustainable food choices

Instead of getting take-out every night that comes in styrofoam or paper containers, try cooking from home more! Or if you find that you are eating at restaurants frequently, bring your own containers to be able to take your leftovers home with you. By taking small steps with your food choices, you will be well on your way to making big changes!

We hope that a few of these have inspired you to make a change! Which one will you try first?
