Tips of how to organize the entrance – enclosed porch

Not all homes have an enclosed porch, which necessity we usually feel only when we settle down. Often the entrance from the outside door is not an isolated closed room, it leads directly to the living room space. There are a number of dwellings in which the living room forms a solid space with a large open hall, next to it is an auxiliary room – a pantry or closet.

It is really clear that a closed porch in a north climate is necessary. The need for this room is especially felt during the cold season, and the doors to the living space directly from the outside will apparently are more popular in the warmer edges.

The main function of the porch – it is the space separating the outdoor and indoor spaces and protecting against cold and wind.

In the porch you can leave outdoor clothes, shoes, and store seasonal clothes, sportswear or inventory, for example, bicycles. Here you can take out outdoor shoes and change to others, indoor – such porch is especially needed when the weather is wet, the rain is blowing, and is going snow. If the porch is open, all dirt is much easier, literally carried over to other rooms.

I would add that we should think about a more spacious enclosed wardrobe in the porch, a place for the shoes, handbags and umbrellas.

Also, be ready for the case if the guests come to your home – think about where to put coats.  Very important furniture in the porch is a clothes hanger for guests. It must be visible and conveniently accessible. The hanger can be placed on the floor, attached to the wall. But it should match the overall style.
