How to Bring Fall Into Your Home This Season

Fall is my favorite time of the year. From the clothes to the food, fall is my number 1 in the ranking of seasons, especially when it comes to home decor.

Decorating your home for fall shouldn’t bring you anxiety. It should overall make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. All you’re doing is taking some elements of nature and adding them to your current home decor.

Whether your home’s design style is industrial or modern, the elements of fall will warm it up regardless. Today, we’re going to look at some ways to bring the wonderful elements of fall into your home.

Pumpkins

When I hear fall, the first thing I think of is pumpkins…pumpkin spice, pumpkin bread, and pumpkin pie. I love everything about pumpkins, especially the fact that they’re multi-functional. Pumpkins can be used for food of course, but have you ever considered using pumpkins for decorating your home?

Pumpkins make the perfect centerpieces for your kitchen table. If you have a glass cake plate, you can place a small bed of hay on your cake plate and then place a big pumpkin on top of that. You can also have vinery hanging down from under the pumpkin as well, to give your table that warm feel.

I also enjoy spray painting pumpkins in white or gold. Doing this adds a touch of class to the warm, fall feel. I spray paint the big pumpkins as well as the little pumpkins. I have a fireplace in my home, so I’ll take a tall glass vase and fill it with the gold and white pumpkins i painted, just to give my fireplace mantel some fall flair.

Another pumpkin accent you can add to your home is give your living room coffee table a pumpkin a centerpiece. It’s really simple, I promise. You’ll take a big pumpkin and cut a big enough hole around the stem of the pumpkin.

You want the hole big enough so that you can fit your hand inside to gut the pumpkin. Once you’ve taken all the insides out of the pumpkin, pour a little bit of water inside and add fresh fall flowers to your pumpkin! You would do the same process for fake flowers, just don’t add the water.

Fall Scents

Fall scents is another reason why I love fall so much. Cinnamon, apple, and pumpkin are all scents that warm the spirit.

My personal favorite is candles. It can’t get any better than the soft glow from the fire of a candle illuminating a room with the wonderful smell of apple cinnamon. It gives the scent of an apple pie without the work that goes into baking an apple pie!

You can either use the candles that come in glass holders or the ones without. I think the candles not in a glass holder are more warm and inviting…they add that bit of sophistication to a room.

In my home, I have 3 big, wood floor candle holders. They’re all different sizes and I have them setting right next to the fire place. They just make my living room look gorgeous, not to mention, they smell amazing. If you want to bring the smell of fall into your home through the use of scented candles, here are some scents to look for the next time you’re out candle shopping:

  • Apple
  • Cinnamon
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Mulberry
  • Autumn Trail
  • Caramel Pumpkin Kiss

Warm and Cozy Textures

When fall is in season, the weather is cool and crisp. All the more reason your home should be filled with any and everything warm. Furs and fleece are my go-to’s to cozy up my home.

During the fall, it’s not uncommon to walk into my home and find blankets everywhere. Now I’m not saying I have blankets just thrown all over the place, but blankets are definitely not hard to find at my house.

With the placement of my blankets, its strategic, yet it still looks good. In the living room, I have a medium sized wicker basket near the big window. Inside that basket you’ll find neatly folded blankets.

Also in the living room, I have a blanket, strategically laid across the top corner of a chaise lounge. It’s easily accessible to anyone that wants to sit there and it makes the chase lounge look like it’s begging you to come get comfy.

Bringing the Leaves and Twigs of the Outdoors, Indoors

If this is not the epitome of fall, then I don’t know what is. You can do so many things to fall-ify your home with the elements of the outdoors.

Door wreaths is definitely something you can make to spruce up your front door. Go to your local craft store and purchase the supplies needed to make a wreath. I’ve used foam wreaths to make mine.

Once you have the supplies needed, you can go outside and go shopping in your own backyard. Take a stroll among the different colored leaves and go back and forth in your mind about what size twigs to grab.

Now that you’ve picked out the leaves and twigs you want, now you can create your wreath. Adding burlap to your wreath is also a good fall touch to add. Other crafty decorations you can add is candle holders made out of twigs and potpourri made out of pine cones and fall scented essential oils.

While getting your home ready for fall, a great way to share your tips and ideas is to create a blog about it. You may be the expertise on seasonal decor, while your neighbor struggles in that department. Instead of constantly telling her your tips, you can just have her check out your blog!

To get started, the first thing you need to do is search available domains. If your blog is going to be about seasonal home decor, make sure your content is and domain reflects that. Once you get your domain, you’re set! Let the blogging begin!
