Warm Drinks ~ Cold Nights

The cold nights are here and now it’s time to break out the warm drinks. It doesn’t have to be boring, there are many, many choices. Let’s take a look at some choices to warm up your evening.

I would highly recommend Teeccino Dandelion Caramel Nut Tea. You don’t add a thing to it.  It’s healthy, gluten-free, caffeine-free and warms you up quite nicely. It tastes more like a rich coffee than tea.

Another nice option is mulled cranberry apple cider. I get the crockpot out and toss in some apple cider, a little cinnamon, ginger, allspice, and clove. I let it mull for several hours and the house smells great. I serve it garnished with an orange slice and fresh cranberries.  I typically add a splash of cranberry juice just before serving as well.

The next one is rich, so there is one limit per night, and it is a real treat. We enjoy caramelized white hot chocolate.  This is how you make the magic happen.

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Put the white chocolate in a glass bowl and put it in the oven. I don’t even bother to cut it up. My husband cuts it up when he makes it. So I guess do whatever makes you happy with that part. Every 10 minutes you give the chocolate a stir.  It will go through several awkward stages. At about 30 minutes it’s the consistency of peanut butter and that is perfect.

You have to do a little double duty because the milk and cream need to be taken care of.  Put the milk and a little cream in and warm it up. I toss in a vanilla bean and pull it out before I whisk in the roasted white chocolate until it’s smooth and creamy.  It sounds odd, but tossing in a little salt at the end is the perfect touch.

I really hope you try one of these and enjoy them as much as I do.
