The Greeks ate eating and preparing their meals was simple. Nevertheless, like everyone else, they liked to eat something sweet, and for centuries, this recipe for Greek pancakes called Itria came to us.They were served in breaks of theater performances as a kind of snack. Topping It was honey and everything was sprinkle with sesame.Around the theater there was always a stand where they would bake these pancakes. The viewers would buy and eat this delicious. The Romans took the recipe and called them “alita dolcia” – “something sweet”.
Pancakes were prepared from flour, water, and honey. After frying, they sprinkled with sesame and honey.
Components: 100 g of soft flour, 8 teaspoons of honey, 1 teaspoon sesame, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, 200 ml of water.
it is like the Greeks had all the ideas three thousand years ago and now they don’t have any left. Seriously, what happened to those guys?
Every nation has its own rise and fall … it happened to them
sure, but all the ideas for two thousand years and then no ideas for the next two thousand?
Well that’s a difficult question now…Maybe all the smart ones died … and no new geniuses were born…Maybe they are just lazy to think something new ..who will know ..Next month, I’m going to Greece…maybe I’m asking them what happened to them..hah.
Just don’t ask until you are ready to leave

and I love them, they’re soft and goes well with maple syrup
In Serbia, we like the pancakes with minced walnuts and sugar. ..there’s no better than that.
In Serbia, pancakes are more like French crepes, thin and filled with cream, marmalade, or with sugar and ground walnuts. 🙂
yes … it all goes to our pancakes..Still, my favorite with walnuts.
Excellent choice, Marija. 🙂
Love pancakes every once in awhile, cause of dieting, but I may have pancakes soon once again.
It can sometimes eat, although you hold the diet.
How interesting … I need to test this recipe
I also like the recipe very much … I have to try it.
How interesting. I alway use honey on mine but not sesame.
I never used sesame.I use honey, nutella and minced walnuts with sugar.I also use marmalade.
That is a great picture! I suspect they may have used fermented honey in the batter, which would have a leavening effect. But I could be wrong.
I do not know what kind of honey they used. You can try the recipe with some kind of honey and see if it’s tasty.
Than you for post Marija,
Thank you for reading.
