My Ultimate Menu: Part 4 – Warm wasabi house noodles at The House

When we moved to San Francisco, we settled in the North Beach neighborhood on Telegraph Hill, just below Coit Tower. Traditionally known as San Francisco’s “Little Italy,” there is no shortage of good Italian food. We were lucky enough to have lived in North Beach for two years and came across a multitude of great food, Italian and otherwise. One of my favorite places is The House on Grant Ave.

The menu changes due to seasonality but they have a few constants. My favorite thing on the menu is the warm wasabi house noodles with accompanying protein. The protein, whether it is salmon, pork, or steak, is grilled and seasoned to perfection. While the protein is always good, the noodles are the star. The sauce is just enough and the wasabi flavor is noticeable but not overwhelming. The flavors and umami are astounding and will leave you wanting more. This dish has never disappointed.

Other great bites I’ve had at The House include their Masami rib eye with housemade teriyaki and toasted garlic butter, their Caesar salad with fried scallops, and their grilled Chinese chicken salad.

Pro tip: I usually go at lunch when the restaurant isn’t as crowded (the restaurant is small and intimate with no more than 12-15 tables). The prices at lunch are also much more reasonable.

After adding The House’s warm wasabi house noodles to my Ultimate Menu, here is where we currently stand:

Breakfast/Brunch

Dungeness crab Benedict – Nick’s Cove

Entree

Warm wasabi house noodles – The House

Pork xiao long bao – Din Tai Fung

Dessert

Snow capped No Ka Oi with haupia ice cream – Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice
