My homemade barbecue sauce is, in my opinion, the most perfectly flavored barbecue sauce ever. It is sweet, tangy, smooth, and spicy with a deep, smooth, rich flavor that is just dreamy on everything from ribs to hamburgers. It even tastes fantastic on potatoes and mushrooms! It took me a long time of tweaking to get it just right. I hope you agree!
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups ketchup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons molasses
- 8 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 and 3/4 teaspoons liquid smoke
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup of pureed sweet onion
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
There really isn’t any directions for making it. Just toss everything in a saucepan and stir until boiling. Dial back the heat to simmer and keep stirring for another 15 to 20 minutes. Sauce is immediately useable, or you can let it cool and store in the refrigerator in a tightly covered container. Makes about 3 cups and should keep in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 weeks
