Mango Fondue

Monday, July 03, 2017

I was drawing a page for my graphic novel all morning and I felt that I needed a break or a snack at 3 pm. I decided to make a raw vegan salad, comprised of cauliflower, broccoli, and Persian cucumber. When I was a kid, I have always called cauliflower and broccoli ‘cute little trees’ because that is just what kids do—look for shapes in the food. Anyway, I realized I didn’t have any dressing, sauce, or dip. So, I decided to make my own sauce with fruit and spices. My choice was one mango, in which I placed chopped mango into the food processor and mixed until creamy texture. After pouring creamy mango into a bowl, I added various spices, such as turmeric, curry, basil, oregano, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, thyme, cilantro, salt, and pepper.  I mixed well, tasted, and then added what I felt was missing until it tasted just right.

It turned out really good and very filling. I dipped broccoli, cauliflower and cucumber pieces into the dip with a fork. By the time I finished the dip, I was very stuffed with veggies and dip.

I added a snapshot of an old raw vegan dish I had made, but it didn’t need any dressing because I had also added sweet berries and kiwi as a form of natural dressing. It is mostly kale, berries, and kiwi, as well as some coconut, sprinkled on top for garnish.
