Jack Daniel’s Bar & Grill at L’Auberge shares tasty recipes

The music is what first caught my attention. Good old country songs. Then I smelled the sizzle of burgers frying. Stepping in, I could see why this Louisiana restaurant is so popular.

Jack Daniel’s Bar & Grill at L’Auberge Casino & Resort in Lake Charles is a hopping place.

I slid into a booth made from an authentic truck found in a local junkyard and ordered a cold drink. Made with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, of course.

The massive American flag hanging from the ceiling is an unusual work of art. It is made completely from chains and was fabricated by Berger Iron Works in Houston.

No live band was playing when I was there but I hope to stop by when one is this evening. The performance stage is built on top of a real 18-wheeler wedged into the corner of the restaurant.

To hold you over until you can visit, L’Auberge has shared two Jack Daniel’s recipes. I’ve tried them both and know they are yummy.

Jack Daniel’s Barbecue Sauce

½ cup (1 stick) butter

¼ cup chopped onion

1 tablespoon chopped garlic

1 teaspoon chopped jalapeno chile

1 teaspoon chili powder

2 tablespoons Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey

1 (8-ounce) can tomato paste

1 cup strong brewed coffee

1 cup chicken stock or vegetable stock

½ cup (1 stick) butter

¼ cup packed brown sugar

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon cider vinegar

1 tablespoon molasses

Melt ½ cup butter in saucepan over medium heat. Add onion, garlic and jalapeno chile and sauté until tender. Stir in chili powder.

Add whiskey and cook for two minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in tomato paste, coffee, chicken stock, ½ cup butter, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar and molasses. Reduce heat to low. Simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally.

Lynchburg Lemonade

Stir together one part Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, one part Triple Sec, one part sour mix and 4 parts lemon-lime soda in a glass.

Add ice and garnish with a lemon slice and cherries.
