You Are Not Alone

This refers to the number one hit by Michael JacksonYou Are Not Alone” which hit the Billboard Hot 100 charts on September 2, 1992. Can you imagine that it was so long ago and this song became his 12th and last number one hit. What is also curious about this song is that it was written and co-produced by R&B star R.Kelly and in 2007 a court in Belgium ruled that Kelly had plagiarized this song for a Belgian song titled “If We Can Start All Over”. Apparently, a great part of the melody did come from this 1993 composition. Later on, R.Kelly paid tribute to Michael by recording his own version ot this song as a bonus track on his 2010 album, Love Letter.

For Michael, it all began when he started performing at the very young age of five and had reached stardom along with his brothers The Jackson 5 by the time he turned 12. At that time he began his solo career and released his fifth single “Ben” from a movie by the same name in 1972. It became his first big hit. At this time he became the third-youngest recording artist right after Stevie Wonder and Donny Osmond to top the pop charts with a number one hit.

Jackson’s second number one hit was “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” and the third was “Rock With You”. Of course, the biggest sensation came when he released his album Thriller in 1982. This album included his fourth and fifth number one hits “Billie Jean” and “Beat It”.

Five years later he was the “King of Pop” and released the album Bad giving him his sixth through the tenth number one hits – “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”, “Bad”, “The Way You Make Me Feel”, “Man in the Mirror” and “Dirty Diana”. His eleventh number one hit came from the album Dangerous “Black and White” in 1991.

The final album Jackson released was his tenth studio album in 2001 Invincible. It included three singles “You Rock My World,” “Cry,” and “Butterflies.”

https://youtu.be/j2Tk2_WNGy4It was tragic when the world lost Jackson on June 25, 2009, at the age of 50 and left his three children Paris Jackson, Prince Michael Jackson II, and Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr. without their father. Time has gone on and Jackson is still remembered, his music is still played, and his children have grown up.
