is it in the sand?
Or fixed in concrete, immovable?
I don’t remember now.
I hear the sound
that the line makes.
I know its edges and
where I have to stop.
Never,
I remember you said
do not, ever, ever,. ever
cross that line.
You didn’t smile
so I wondered then
if the line was
sand
or concrete.
Knowing that perhaps
It changed over time.
Now it is concrete
hard and fixed forever.
What once was free flowing sand
Now static rock.
Do you still wish
that I would not cross that line?
