The Day the Music Died

The saddest day in rock music history was February 3, 1959. It was the day when within minutes after taking off from Mason City, Iowa the chartered plane carrying Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper crashed into the Iowa countryside. All three died as they had been heading for the next stop on the “Winter Dance Party” tour. This tragedy was immortalized in the song by Don McLean “American Pie” as “The Day the Music Died”.

Here is a special video honoring them all. Their music lives on.

Them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye singing this will be the day that i die.

i cannot imagine the impact of that moment, those 3 deaths.
