The Accidental Guardian by Mary Connealy (a book review)

“Wagons Ho!” Who’s ready for a trip back in time?” Mary Connealy wrote ‘The Accidental Guardian’ that takes place at the end of the Civil War and the beginning of Westward Expansion. Mary has written a family story about two characters Trace and Deborah and their meeting. Two people can have different memories and still come together even if the circumstances are similar as these two characters share various memories of Wagon train trips.

‘The Accidental Guardian’ is a novel taht will make the reader think that they are surviving a Rockies winter as well with Trace and Deborah with all the others. Mary used description in a very effective way. Here are some excerpts from the book that I liked. The first paragraph on page 160 has a sentence “Could there be more?” This whole paragraph was about relationships and how they should start being couples and even families for some as was in ‘The Accidental Guardian’. On page 254 Mary describes how the character of Deborah makes her life decisions. Changes will be made, but the character did stay true with many ideas. This page makes readers feel good about the choices they may have made.

‘The Accidental Guardian’ by Mary Connealy is a novel that just maybe make readers read more fiction and nonfiction books about this time in American history. The description used especially about the Lake Tahoe area was able to make me see that piece of America’s natural landscapes very well. This was a five star read.
