I just heard an old Creedence Clearwater Revival song that has really weird lyrics. This one is about a guy who returns home and locks his front door. What he does at home or what he drinks we don’t know but when he looks out of his backdoor he sees tambourines and elephants and so on.
The song was actually written for the then three-year-old son of John Fogerty one of the members of the band. He stated that in the song the parade passing by was inspired by Dr. Seuss’s book “And To Think I Saw It On Mulberry Street”. The song also refers to a famous country singer Buck Owens and the music reflects a bit of the Bakersfield sound that Owens made famous.
There are times when life gets so hard I wish I could see things like that instead of reality. In Latvia when I looked out my door I saw the usual gray sky and my cat running around like a mad man with a few screws loose. I always say whatever gets you through the day.
Here in the U.S. in Florida, I have scenes like the one you see in the photo. And no, you’re not seeing things that is how my cat Sid would sleep in the palm tree just outside my front door. It is not bad and quite inspirational. I hope you get inspired by this song “Looking Out My Back Door”.
I could not imagine how my cat got into the palm tree when all his life he had been used to climbing apple and oak trees
I remember this song, a huge fan of CCR.
I haven’t heard this song before but it’s great.
CCR and then by extension John Fogarty, a long time favorite.
out my back door is a classic! Their set at Woodstock was glossed over, but one of the best from that event!
