Song Saturday – Provence – The Rippingtons

This year marks the 35th anniversary of The Rippingtons.  The Rippingtons is a legendary jazz band led by lead guitarist Russell Freeman.  Many musicians that were originally in this band went on to become contemporary jazz legends, such as David Benoit, Kenny G, and Dave Koz.  Their first album went on to become a classic.  The name of their first album is called Moonlighting.  Their song was the theme song of the detective show that was also called Moonlighting that starred Bruce Willis.

The song that I picked for Song Saturday from the Rippingtons is called Provence from their 2011 album titled Cote d’Azur.  The overall theme of this album is France.  You can hear the classical French style of music dripping from this song.

    • You are welcome. I had to do at least one of their songs in their 35th anniversary. Did you ever watch Moonlighting? I used to watch it when I was a kid. “Some walk by night, some fly by day…”
