1970 – Simon and Garfunkel come out with their third number one hit in the U.S. “Bridge Over Troubled Water”. The song went on to win five Grammy Awards among them Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

1976 – Paul Simon has a hit with “Still Crazy After All These Years”.

1981 – Country music star Eddie Rabbitt has a number one hit on the U.S. pop chart with “I Love a Rainy Night”.

2010 – Neil Young made an unexpected appearance at the closing of the Vancouver Olympic Games singing “Long May You Run” as the Olympic flame was extinguished.
