1956 – Elvis came out with one of this biggest hits “Heartbreak Hotel”. The song went to number one and stayed at number one for eight straight weeks and remained on the chart for more than four months.

1958 – The Silhouettes hit it big with “Get A Job”. The song became popular after Dick Clark began playing it on American Bandstand.

1960 – “Theme From A Summer Place” by Percy Faith got on the charts and stayed there for nine weeks. This remains the longest-running number-one instrumental in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It won a Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1961.
