Fans of the crime drama series “Magnum P. I.” which was filmed in Hawaii will remember Tom Selleck as the lead actor of the show playing the role of Thomas Magnum who was a private detective in the television series that ran from 1980-1988 on the Columbia Broadcasting Station (CBS).

John Hillerman who was the actor who the role of Jon Higgins III who often clashed with Magnum on how to operate his way of handling investigations passed away in his home in Houston Texas of natural causes. Hillerman was 84 years of age.

What I remember of the show “Magnum P I” was that it was the successor of the crime series that were filmed in Hawaii after the original “Hawaii Five O” show which was broadcast on CBS from 1968-1980 ended its run on the television network.

What makes crime shows on television shows interesting is when two people who have different views of working in their line of work have conflicts. Hillerman was great in playing an old school partner to Magnum who was of the new school of detective work.

Hillerman starred in television shows like “Ellery Queen”, “The Betty White Show”, “Magnum P. I.” among other television roles either as a serious or comical actor.

Hillerman made  acting appearances in motion pictures like “Blazing Saddles”, “Chinatown” to name a few. His last movie appearance in the movie “A Very Brady Sequel” which was released in 1996 when he retired from show business.

Rest in peace John Hillerman. Through your work as an actor, you made the world a better place for us who enjoyed your work as an actor in television and the movies.
