What Old Television Shows Would You Bring Back?

It is rightly said that old is gold. Though we have so many television channels available now and a wide variety of shows ranging from daily soaps to reality shows to talk shows to music shows but still there is something about the old shows which still refuses to fade into oblivion. May be it’s too much of variety on the platter nowadays that it’s increasingly difficult to hold viewers’ interest for long!

Whatever might be the reason, there is no denying the fact that old shows still rule our heart.I remember the days when we used to have only Doordarshan, we used to eagerly await the shows that were telecast once a week. Discovery of India, Buniyaad, Hum Log, Tamas, Malgudi Days, Karamchand- all those shows are still itched in our memories. Every Sunday, Doordarshan used to air episodes of Star Trek and Disney cartoons which were eagerly awaited throughout the week. That was the only dose of English serials we used to get those days. The monopoly of Doordarshan ended with the advent of cable television about twenty years back.

In the beginning, there was only Star TV which used to air English shows and MTV which used to air only English songs. I remember what a relief it was to finally have some shows to watch every day. ‘Santa Barbara’ and ‘Bold and the beautiful’ were the big hit shows of that time. I also loved to watch ‘I dream of Genie , ‘Different Strokes’ and ‘Baywatch’.And then who can forget the immensely popular ‘Friends’? It’s been years but I still watch ‘Friends’ whenever the old seasons are being run on television. How great it would be if the star cast of ‘Friends’ come together once more for another season though the possibility has been ruled out by the makers.
