I’ve recently shared some music from Home Free. I love a good a capella group. They must sing just on the strength of their voices, without being able to rely on musical instruments. That is far more difficult than many people think. This is another great acapella group that a few people have said that they really like. This is Pentatonix.
In both the case of Home Free and Pentatonix, they have a strong beatboxer and a powerful bass singer. The bass singer is Avi Kaplan, who is no longer with Pentatonix. He is pictured on the far right in the still for this music video.
The power of a great bass singer isn’t just in how well they can sing the lowest notes, but also in how great their vocal range is. Avi is the second featured singer in this song and he shows that he can sing beautifully in a range far above the bass.
I love how they put so much feeling into this song. The blend is fantastic. Mitch Grassi’s high soprano is spot on. As a bit of trivia, the beatboxer, Kevin Olusola, is a graduate of Yale University in pre-med.
Also quite interesting; Pentatonix competed in and won the third season of The Sing-Off. Home-Free competed in and won the fourth season of The Sing-Off.
Wonderful song! Wonderful group! I also love a good a capella group.
It takes a lot of talent to sing a capella. I admire groups that do it and do it well.
Again, this is one of my favorite songs and my favorite a cappella group. I was sorry to hear that Avi left; and I haven’t heard the group since his departure.
They are still good and have a new singer, though not deep bass. Their style has changed a lot with the departure of Avi, though.
I have heard this before and it is stunning. Pentatonix is unreal with everything they do.
I have no doubt at all that they put a huge amount of work and practice into every song.
My band is an unknown song, but it’s great
This is one of my favorite songs.
One of my personal all-time favorite songs. Done perfectly!!!!
I agree with you. I love how each part was highlighted, too. That gave a great perspective to the range in the group.
They also explore the power of the song itself!
Yes, and they put feeling behind the words they sing.
yes, they really convey the power of the song well.
Beautiful song indeed , Thank you for sharing
I love this one and they did it very well.
