My 10 Favorite Guitarists in Alpha Order

My husband plays the guitar and introduced me to some of the guitarists that he likes.  The Rolling Stone published an official list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of all time.  My husband’s list is OK. The list by The Rolling Stone is OK.  But I prefer my own picks.  It’s hard for me to do a count down list.  100 is a bit much, so instead, I listed 10 of my favorite guitarists and alphabetized the names.  Are you familiar with any of these guitarists?  Found some cool pics on Instagram.

Pictured above are guitar legends Jimi Hendrix (left) and Eric Clapton (right). - Born November 26, 1942, in Seattle, Washington, Jimi Hendrix grew up playing guitar and learning to imitate blues legends like Muddy Waters. During the early 1960s, Hendrix worked as a pickup guitarist, backing famous musicians such as B.B. King, Sam Cooke, and Little Richard. - Hendrix caught his big break in 1966 after the bassist for The Animals heard Hendrix playing in New York and brought him to London, where they created the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Their first single “Hey Joe” hit No. 6 in the UK. - Eric Clapton was born on March 30, 1945 in Surrey, England. Clapton grew up in a musical family, and for his 13th birthday, he asked for a guitar, which started his love affair with his instrument of choice. Similar to Hendrix, Clapton also drew inspiration from blues legends such as Robert Johnson, Alexis Korner, and Muddy Waters. - Clapton had a very successful career playing with bands such as The Yardbirds, Cream, and John Mayhall & the Bluesbreakers, and he also had a successful solo career. Clapton gained significant recognition from his first album with the Bluesbreakers for his guitar playing on songs such as “What’d I say” and “Ramblin’ on My Mind.”

  2. Thank you for sharing this list. I am not familiar with guitarists. In fact, I seldom listen to guitar music, but I always like piano music. It’s good to know these great guitarists, or your favorites! ^_^
