Madonna the Material Girl

Everyone around the world knows this talented lady by name alone. Her full name is Madonna Louise Ciccone and she came into this world on August 16, 1958, in Michigan. In the 1980s she achieved stardom as a pop singer and dancer. Then she had the opportunity to act in movies where she showed her acting talent as well. Some of the movies Madonna has appeared in are “Desperately Seeking Susan”, “Dick Tracy”, “A League of Their Own” and “Evita”.

People started noticing her ever-changing hairstyles and many tried to follow her sense of fashion. She grew up in a Catholic family. She enrolled in the University of Michigan in 1978 but dropped out and headed for New York City to become a dancer. Her first time on the dance scene was in 1982 with her dance single “Everybody”. Afterward, she came out with her self-titled debut album in 1983.

Her rise to stardom began with her second album Like a Virgin and she performed the title track at the first MTV Video Music Awards in 1984. This was the first of her albums that rose to the number one spot on the music charts followed by two more top of the charts albums True Blue in 1986 and Like a Prayer in 1989. The Material Girl had made it to stardom.

In 2008 she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Her music has also been included in various movie soundtracks like “Die Another Day” and “Get Smart”. In 2008 she also made her directorial debut with the film “Filth and Wisdom”.

Her fourteenth studio album Madame X came out in 2019. 

She now lives in Lisbon, Portugal.
