King of Pop Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson who everyone knows earned the nickname The King of Pop. He was an American singer-songwriter, dancer, businessman, and philanthropist. He was born in a talented family of ten children and began his career as a boy with his brothers onstage performing as The Jackson 5. Afterward, he started a very successful solo career in 1971. At the age of 13, his very first solo number-one single was “Ben” from the album of the same name.

It was the popularity of his music videos which helped MTV climb the ladder to fortune and fame. During the 1980s Michael Jackson came out with more exciting videos such as “Black or White” and “Scream”. The video Scream included him and his sister Janet Jackson.

His stage performances were incredible and thrilled his many fans especially when he showed his special techniques like the robot and the moonwalk. He was a domineering personality and influenced other artists in a wide variety of musical fields like post-disco, hip hop, R&B, pop, and rock.

Among his bestselling albums was Off the Wall in 1979 with songs like “She’s Out of My Life

In 1982 Jackson came out with one of the best selling albums of all time – Thriller and everyone could just not get enough of the Thriller video.

Then in 1987 Bad was released with songs like “The Way You Make Me Feel

The album Dangerous came out in 1991 “She Drives Me Wild

HIStory was released in 1995 with songs past, present, and future like “Billie Jean

Michael Jackson is among the few artists who have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice and has also been inducted into the Dance Hall of Fame as the only pop and rock music dancer. He holds multiple Guinness World Records, has thirteen Grammy Awards including the Grammy Legend Award and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Among his other awards are 26 American Music Awards. During his solo career, he had thirteen number-one singles in the U.S. and has sold more than 400 million records all over the globe.

Earth Song” was his final song and was rehearsed and performed on stage on the night before he died at the age of 50 June 24, 2009.

When Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009, he left behind millions of sorrowing fans and a huge gap in the music industry. It is wonderful that he left behind three beautiful children to hopefully carry on their father’s legacy. I have often wondered if he might still be alive today if he had gotten away from whatever ghosts or nightmares might have followed him around his Neverland and had brought his children to England and done his practicing there. Perhaps, but we will never know…
