When We First Met (2018) -Netflix Original- Movie Review

When We First Met is a 2018 Netflix Original movie directed by Ari Sandel.

I have to say I was very impressed with this film, especially for it being a Netflix original. I am not sure exactly when Netflix started making it’s own original films, but this is one of it’s best that I have seen.

When I read the synopsis of the film, I thought it sounded too much like a few other movies I have seen. Honestly though it was rather original (maybe because of the twist at the end).

The main character Noah (played by Adam Devine) falls in low with a woman named Avery (played by Alexandra Daddario) after they meet  at a Halloween party.  Unfortunately, Avery only sees Noah as a friend and not a love interest after spending time together.

The movie then shoots to three years later and Avery is engaged to a man named Ethan (played by Robbie Amell). Noah gets very upset because he wishes he could have been the one Avery fell in love with instead of Ethan.

Noah ends up back in the photo booth where he went with Avery on Halloween three years earlier and somehow ends up back in time.

Apparently the premise of the film is that Noah relives the day over and over until he gets the results he wants, while other movies with a similar story line have it where the character must live the day over and over again until they get things right but in this movie Noah chooses to go back to the photo booth and fix the past.

This movie has a twist at the end that I did not see coming and that is one of the reasons I thought the movie was better than I expected.

I would give When We First Met 4/5 stars.

I would give it all five stars, but I am taking off one star because there is some language.  I think the movie doesn’t really need any cursing.

Have you seen When We First Met? If so, what did you think of it?
