First Hit for Carole King

Before Carole King became a fantastic and popular singer she was a terrific songwriter. Years ago once she had graduated from college King married Gerry Goffin and they both worked for Don Kirshner. Kirshner was an American music publisher, producer for rock music, a talented manager and songwriter.

King was very successful in writing songs that became hits for other singers. Her first hit song was “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” sung by The Shirelles and soon she was on a roll. Many other hits followed until finally after ten years King fulfilled her dream of combining her songwriting talent with singing.

On June 19, 1971, she had her first double-sided hit “It’s Too Late” and “I Feel the Earth Move”.

King became popular and introduced everyone to her great voice on her album Tapestry. She was on her way to becoming a very successful solo performer.
