Carnival in Xanthi, Greece, 2018.
The carnival lasts about 15 days. It involves many cultural associations. Every year there are over 60 – 70 thousand visitors. Concerts, folklore, theater productions are offered during these 15 days. This year, the carnival takes place under the title “Carnival of Colors”. It is a feast that has been associated with the resurrection and awakening of nature in the spring.
Every year, the carnival in Xanthi reaches its peak with a great parade on the streets of the city. The culmination is February 18, when the participants defile against the background of music and dances. This is the largest carnival in northern Greece. Only his attendees are 20 thousand.
