It is after midnight Monday morning, and I am still working on balancing my checkbook and analyzing my bank statement. I notice a weird card purchase that I don’t remember buy on the internet. I don’t even buy anything on the internet. I just mostly blog, play games, and chat. Anyway, this weird incident happened last year, in March. Apparently, I must have played a game on Schemegame.com, thinking it was free. I don’t even know how they got my debit card number. I was tricked into giving them my debit card number, thinking it was free or something, because I never use my debit card for such game crap. I must have been tired or bored or something because it is strange. On March 23, 2016, the site took out $1.00; and, then on March 28, 2016, site took out $29.95 from my account. I don’t remember this game or site, as well as how they tricked me into thinking it was free and I ended up giving them my debit card number to play it when I was bored.
Has anyone heard of this site or game? I am not sure what it is but I hope I don’t see it on my bank statement anymore. I really don’t remember going there before because I internet-surf a lot, and I check out many things all over the internet, which might have lead me to click on it by accident, just to check out what it is.
This incident really pissed me off because they are obviously liars and cheaters, taking advantage of people. If I had known there was some kind of fee, than I would have ignored it and went elsewhere. Or, I must have accidentally clicked on it and entered because I would never have intentionally clicked on it or even typed my debit card number, which is something I never do. I wonder how that happened??? The only times that I intentionally shopped on the internet were on Amazon, Bialetti website, Mr. Coffee website, and the lulu.com self-publishing site to buy a copy of my own novel after I self-published my first novel. I just hope I don’t see this SCHEMEGAME.COM site on my bank statements again. That is why I feel it is important to check my bank statements, analyze where my money is going, and what I am spending. Everything else on my statements seems accurate and normal.
I noticed under one of the complaints that the site people responded with “it is a 5-day free trial,” and they should have read the fine print. It is therefore important to read the fine print on websites, which I probably didn’t because I must have thought it was just a free game site.
As I internet-surf, trying to find information about this games site, the only information about it that I found are many complaints and negative reviews, where people commented that this site stole money from their account without notifying anyone. Apparently, all these people also thought that this site was an online free games site.
Yeah, I think you have to dispute inside a month… 45 days on the outside, it all depends on your bank. But if you avoid giving that sort of information in the future you can avoid a repeat of this sort of thing
i never do give my debit card number. i am not sure why i wrote it in on that site…
you let your guard down, even for a moment
i think it happened last March, and it probably too late to do anything about it. I usually don’t give my my debit card number because i dont really shop on the internet. i mostly blog, play games, and do research. i think it is important to carefully scrutinize everything on the internet before you click on it because some of these sites try to trick you into taking your money somehow.
Never give out your credit card number unless you plan to purchase something. You might be able to dispute this charge with you bank…
