When you think of the ‘best movies of all time’ your mind immediately jumps to Hollywood blockbusters such as Titanic. Movies like this have truly ruled the box office, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are the best movies ever.
In fact, English speaking may dominate box office, but there are some real classic foreign movies that surpass the dominance of Hollywood.
When considering my personal best movies of all time, I obviously could only list movies I have scene. The ones I have selected in my personal top ten are listed for various reasons.
Many were ahead of their time and thus influenced many movies of today. Others are simply stunning in terms of cinematography, direction and storytelling. While a couple are simply amazing movies in every aspect.
It took me a long time to filter my list down to five, and even longer to rank them. To me movies like Titanic are great, but there’s just something slightly missing, something intangible that simply isn’t there. Some of the movies that fill out my top ten: The God Father, Star Wars, Pan’s Labyrinth, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and Seven Samurai

This is one of my all time favorites, I think Ive seen it 25 times. Part two is pretty good as well but not as good as the Original 300.

The Wicker Man is a classic British thriller with a cult following. It is strange and even campy, and far superior to the more recent American remake. A rather creepy sort of musical, if you liked the Rocky Horror Picture Show, you'll want to check this movie out too.
