Be Bop a Lula

This is the title of a song that I simply love. It is the kind of song that has nonsensical lyrics but a great beat and just fun to listen to. “Be-Bop-A-Lula” was recorded by rockabilly legend Gene Vincent on May 4, 1956, in Nashville, Tennessee.

One of the reasons why the song appealed was that there was an uncanny resemblance between the voice of Gene Vincent and the voice of Elvis Presley. Before long, this song became a smash hit, rose up on the pop charts and sold over two million copies in the first year of its release. I have included Gene Vincent’s version of “Be-Bop-A-Lula”. Yes, Elvis and some other recording artists also sang this song.
