I am amazed that 98 year old Mary Ellen Owens who works once a week in the Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater Florida has this wonderful attitude of greeting patients with a smile and a happy view of life.
Owens became a hospital volunteer recently as a way of giving back to the employees of the hospital who treated her husband with kindness and compassion before he passed away almost 20 years ago.
Mary Ellen works a four hour shift on Tuesdays with the help of a volunteer who gives her a ride on his automobile from her home since she does not have a driver’s license to legally drive an automobile.
One reason many senior citizens have learned to live such long lives is that once they find a purpose in life in doing what they love to do, it is one way to give everything they have by giving back to their communities by working in the role of a volunteer.
It is nice to see someone like Mary Ellen Owens work as a hospital volunteer once a week in Clearwater Florida since she hopes that people will follow her example to enjoy living to the fullest regardless of what anyone thinks.
That is true since some people are worn down from their lifetime of work and just want to stay on the sideline.
This is a wonderful story. I think she’s got a sense of life in this work.
Mary Ellen has found one way to keep on living by serving others as a volunteer in a hospital.
it is easier to live if you have a purpose
That is true since most people die when they feel that there is no purpose left in life when their loved ones have gone home.
thus, if you have a reason to live you might live longer
That is a good point that you have since sitting on the sidelines is boring.
but perhaps some folks like boring
This is a wonderful story and very lovely to hear about a 98 yr old woman volunteering to help others
My pleasure to share this great story.
