When the Cold War Ended – 30

Death Rate (1)

To comprehend the effect the ending of the Cold War had on America is the  drop in life expectancy. The overall life expectancy has declined, reversing historical patterns in longevity.

Despite spending more on health care  there is increasing mortality and falling life expectancy for people ages 25 to 64.

Other wealthy nations have experienced continued progress in extending longevity.  Even countries which are not that wealthy have seen an increase in people living to 90, even 100.

Not in America.

The highest relative jump in death rates from 2010 to 2017 — 29 percent — has been among people ages 25 to 34. Once the most prized citizens, now, unnecessary.

The slowing of  life expectancy,  matches to the ending of the Cold War in the 1980s.   Simply put, there was no need for the ‘Best and Brightest’, no need for a strong population.
