Paula visited Sandra every Tuesday at the hospital. She met other patients, heard other stories. Her view of life changed and she got much closer Sandra than she had been. Closer to Sandra, closer to her family.
Paula reentered the social world having a few ‘girl’s nights out’, attended a few sporting events.
Connie asked her about Jack, Paula shrugged; “He was just a date..”
Paula avoided hanging out any where, avoided Jack. She did see him in passing, he’d smile, she’d smile then move off.
He was no longer part of her life. The situation with her cousin, her family, had shifted priorities.
