Tips For Being a Singleton

When you live alone, you might not want to put down ‘roots’.  Fine.  But don’t let where you live become a dump.

Give yourself a schedule. For example, you defrost the fridge every Sunday morning, you mop the floor every Tuesday evening, you do the laundry on Monday and Thursday, often rising early to do it, or if you can’t, push it to weekends, so that there is always something to do.

Cook in advance.

Create you own ‘TV dinners’,  that is a meal you have made you can simply warm up when you come home from work.  Usually, and wisely, on Sunday after dinner, you have five different meal in the freezer, plus a few ‘fill ins,  that is a can you can open or a few vegeburgers or fish fingers that can be popped in.

Walk. Walk where and whenever you can a a mix of exercise and observation.

You may set yourself an exercise regime or join a gym.

Many people live on the internet, this is not good. Yes, it has its benefits, just as were you to curl up with a book or watch television, but don’t become a couch potato.

When you go to work don’t make it ‘your life’, because that leads to a dead end. Have interests outside of work. Make yourself have interests, whether sports or hobbies, so that you aren’t sitting at your desk long after quitting time because you ‘hate’ to go home.
