The Concept of Time

I’m taking an independent study philosophy class. I’m studying the various concepts of time. (It’s called being luxuriously unemployed.)

I don’t mean seconds, minutes, hours—hear me out.

I’ve noticed that time is not equal in every instance.

For example, if you clock into work an extra 50 minutes—that’s really an hour.

What about when you order a pizza?

They say it’ll be there in 30 minutes, but it arrives in 45 minutes—that’s really an hour.

Take another for instance: You’re baking cookies and they’re almost done.

They just need five more minutes—that’s when five minutes turns into forever!

The same goes if you’re getting a massage. You go to a spa, and you get the full 90 minute Ayurvedic massage with heated almond oil. You go in and you lay down and you feel all comfortable and warm, and then the therapist nudges you awake from your sleep:  “Take your time getting ready miss, I’ll be waiting outside.”

Now, that feels like five minutes!

So, in essence, going back to the cookie example, if five minutes feels like forever, your massage then, while it lasted—did in fact last forever!

Yes. I am studying all of these things, and  many things of that nature.
