St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church (2015-04-21 15-38-41a)

The Ukrainian Catholic Church is not a separate denomination; it is part of the Roman Catholic Church and under the authority of the pope. Churches like this are said to belong to a rite. There are about 20 of them. They differ from most Catholics (the Latin Rite includes about 95% of the world’s 1,000,000,000+ Catholics) in that they have their own liturgy (Mass plus other prayers) and canon law. The latter is important because in some of the rites, married men can become priests.

The church is located at  835 N Oakley Blvd, Chicago, Illinois (Ukrainian Village). The building was completed in 1915.The photo was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera. I used ACDSee Ultimate 10.3 to correct the perspective, crop and adjust the lighting.
