The city was urbanized in 1826, and Sabac is the first city in Serbia to have a pharmacy, theater, glass windows, a carriage. In the First World War of 14,000 inhabitants, 7,000 died. For these sufferings in the First World War, Shabac received three Order: French wreath with a palm branch of France, the Order of the Czechoslovak national cross from Czechoslovakia and Karadjordje Star by the Serbian government. Near Shabac, on Cer mountain, there is a monument to Serb soldiers who defeated the Austro-Hungarian army in the famous Battle of Cers, the first battle of the First World War.

When Prince Milan Obrenovic (1854-1901) visited Serbia, he arrived in Shabac around noon and planned to move to Valjevo in the evening.People pulled out a bolt. And when the carriage went off, the wheel went off, the carriage broke, and the Prince had to stay in sleeping in Shabac until they recovered. So they managed to keep the Prince in Sabac and show their hospitality in the best possible way.
