My brother, my hero

Let’s see, I lived with my brother growing up. I lived with him after his divorce. I bought a house with him when he wanted a home for all of us. For most of my life he has loved me and teased me endlessly and lived where I live.

I guess the only thing that has really changed is that now he needs me to live here. He needs me to help him. Nothing feels more comforting than knowing someone needs  you and still chooses  to love you.

He lives in constant pain and sometimes I think the only joy he gets is teasing me. What I hate the most is when he says “Someday you’ll miss this.” I hope that day never comes. Sometimes it feels like we are racing  to she how Mom has reorganized hell so we have a place to simply be.

  1. I lived without having a brother for my first ten years. We’ve faced many challenges together, after being fairly close for the first seven years of his life. After that I left home for college. We’ve become close again in the past ten years or so, though we’ve always been there for each other during crisis times. We live about six hours apart. Your post made me both laugh and cry. I hope you and your brother still have many years to be together.
