Mileseva

At 280km from Belgrade, the Zlatibor District, near Prijepolje lies Mileseva, one of the most famous medieval monasteries. It was built by Vladislav Nemanjić, son of Stefan the First Crowned in the first half of the 13th century. The monastery is also the place of his last resting place. According to legend, in this place in the 12th century there tz. Church on Monte wall. Its most important relic was Christ’s shroud – the cloth that is used in worship, to show Christ’s body after removing the cross. In 1187 the Templars have attacked the church and tried to deprive her most holy. At the end of the fight, the Black wall appeared white Archangel Gabriel and at the exact location Vladislav built his legacy. Mileševa is now part of the UNESCO World Heritage List
