There were those alive at the reign of Mansa Musa who believed that the boats of the explorers who left Africa did arrive in the New World.

That either they were unable to return or chose to remain.

There is some evidence that Africans were in what is today South America. This is found in the appearance of various statues built at the time.

It was accepted that Africans knew something about navigating to the New World.  

This is why, Pedro Alonso Nino, an African, traveled with Christopher Columbus on his first expedition in 1492.

This is not hidden.  This is recorded.  

So why aren’t these facts well known?.
