Chicago was recently awarded a new public library called West Loop Branch Library because it is located in the former industrial district of West Loop, which is now an attractive residential and commercial zones. This is the first public library in this part of the city, a 81 branch of the public library system of the city of Chicago. It is open to the public on January 17 this year. It stretches over 1500 square meters and is a beautiful blend of old and new, and the result is an adaptation of a former television studio and the surrounding business premises. This room is the library successfully adapted the famous Chicago-based architectural studio Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM), taking care to preserve the original elements of the building, especially the red brick and wooden bars on the front of the building for which the area was known to the citizens of Chicago. The library was built by private donors and the city. In addition to books, periodicals, multimedia materials and space for reading and learning in the building there are meeting facilities, a variety of social and cultural events, and users can use in addition to the Internet, computers, printers, copiers, scanners, and modern digital labs and studios recording.
