Grozdana Olujic R.I.P.

The writer, a famous novelist, writer, essayist, and translator Grozdana Olujic died at the age of 85 in Belgrade, according to the Association for Culture, Arts and International Cooperation “Adligat”. Grozdana Olujic was born in 1934 in Erdeviku, high school ended in Becej, a BA and MA in English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade. His first novel, “A trip to heaven”, published in 1958, and was followed by “I vote for Love” (1963), “Do not wake sleeping dogs” (1964), “Wild Seed” (1967), “Voices in the Wind” and ” survive until tomorrow “(2017). She has published a collection of fairy tales “pearl roses and other fairy tales,” “Heavenly River and Other Tales”, “The stone that flew,” “Snow Flower”, “The pillow that he remembered the dreams” and a novel fairy tale “Star wanderer”. Olujić decades represented in the national reading for elementary school students, but also required reading for students of comparative literature at several American universities. Due to the high artistic achievements was declared an honorary citizen of Oslo and the holder of the Order of the Knights of the Danish Daneborg. Almost all of her short stories from the collection of “African violets” were included in anthologies around the world (Germany, Israel, Russia, India, England, America, France), a story “game” was awarded the competition for the world’s best short story in Germany. In addition to all the most important domestic awards – three awards of the dragon, children’s games, of the “Politika Zabavnik”, “Young pokolenje2,” Golden Butterfly “,” The Old Olive Tree “, NIN Award,” Bora Stankovic ” for the entire work, Grozdana Olujic received the award of the World Academy of Art and Culture (World Academy for Art and Culture, USA). Her books are translated into 36 languages. Handing her the Charter Lifetime Achievement Association of Writers of Serbia in 2004, then-President Slobodan Rakitic said that the literary work of Grozdana Olujic of great importance for the Serbian culture and “Heritage Serbian nation”.
