Athos is the name of a beautiful peninsula, as well as the Greek holy mountain (2033m). Women are not allowed to enter the island, not even female animals, except cats.

The temple dedicated to the goddess Athena was built in the 5th century BC. , on the Acropolis of Athens, a place used both as a church and as a market. It is seen as an eternal symbol of ancient Greece and of Athenian democracy.

Food – Moussaka (eggplant mushroom), keftedes (baklava), baklava (baklava) and many other goodies.

Famous Greeks – Plato, Aristotle Onassis, Alexander the Great, Maria Callas.

  1. Every time I hear Greece what comes to mind are the ancient philosophers, the Parthenon and Santorini. But I do not understand the tradition of not allowing females — after all, every soul is consisted of both male and female.

    • I travelled in Greece many times in the 1970s-1980s and I also remember those souvlakis! A wonderful country with warm, friendly people and possibly the best food on the world 🙂
