When I first got onto the Internet I was dazzled to be in IRC Chat talking to someone in Indonesia.
I knew she was in Indonesia, as she knew I was in Jamaica and so we were careful, for what might be nothing to me, could be an insult to her, and, of course, vica versa.
As time passed I was no longer dazzled to be in discussion with people from all over the world, and often we shared social and political realities, explaining and clarifying.
People from all over the world; NOT America.
Where people from Kenya or Brasil or Latvia recognised there were other nations and people in the world, Americans seemed to believe everyone online was American or should be.
